Seasons Change
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1
As most of you know, after Rich was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) in May 2024 and began chemotherapy in June, we knew that we would no longer be able to continue as missionaries in the bush of Tanzania, Africa. We told the Lord the same thing we have said many times since being Spirit-filled in 1987, “Lord, here we are send us. We will go anywhere and do anything for You.”
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. Acts 20:24
In April, an opportunity to church plant in Romania surfaced so we began praying about it. We went to Europe this past May intending to “spy out the land,” and discern whether this was where the Lord wanted us to go. After being in Europe for a short time, we heard clearly and sweetly from the Lord, without even going to Romania. The night He spoke to us, we were staying in Villa Tacchi, a hotel only 2 miles from the home where we planted the Refuge Vicenza in 2006.
While in Italy, we prayed with some friends about our future ministry. After we prayed with them we both sensed from the Lord that He was not calling us to Romania. Then Rich had a couple of difficult chemo experiences. They weren’t serious, but the Lord used them to continue moving us in His desired direction. The evening after his second time of having some difficult, but normal, chemo side effects, we were in our hotel room, playing cards. The presence of the Holy Spirit became very strong in our room and He spoke to us. He made it clear that we would not be going to Europe and that our season of foriegn missions was finished.
The next morning, Rhonda decided to read a devotional to us. It was as if the devotional was written by God for us! Here are the opening sentences:
“Your life’s purpose is connected to a specific time and season. In other words, it will have a beginning and an ending. Some of God’s purposes can be fulfilled in a short time, while others take a lifetime. You won’t always be able to do what you’re doing today, or at least to the extent you’re doing it now.”
Wow! How wonderful is our Great God to provide such clear confirmation. There is more to the devotion; we have attached the whole text (it’s short) to this update if you’d like to read it.
New Season
The Lord has already given us direction in this new season, and we are very excited! It has been strange for us to get used to not going back overseas, but our lives belong to Him, and we will do anything and go anywhere He desires.
There are two things that the Lord has made clear to us. First was to finish writing a book resulting from years of study and ministry. Rich submitted the manuscript, which was accepted for publication on Friday, July 18, 2025. We plan to sign the contract this week. The book is titled:
THE FATHER PROMISED!
A Biblical and Experiential Study of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We will let you all know when it has been published in case you are interested in reading it.
The second thing that the Lord has impressed on us is that we are to “GO!” Though we are back in the States, we plan to travel and minister. Our goal is to be a blessing to preachers, churches, and believers. Rich can speak about missions, preach revival services, preach and teach about the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and/or the manifestation gifts of the Spirit, or fill any other preaching or teaching need. There is a passion in our hearts to see the lost saved and the saved set on fire to go forth and reach the lost.
We are praying about a couple of opportunities that are already available. One is in Washington State, and the other is in Hawaii (similar climates 
). Both are to provide pastoral support and discipleship.

Rich’s Health
After being on chemotherapy for just a little over a year, Rich is doing very well. He has had minimal side effects, and the chemo is working. The amount of cancerous white blood cells produced by his stem cells continues to decrease. Though remission is not normally possible with CML, reducing cancerous white blood cells is key to extending longevity of life. Rich’s life is in the hands of our Great God!
